My perception of meditation has evolved after listening to this beautiful piece by Pt. Hari Prasad Chaurasia. It's from the album called solid gold. The composition is so beautiful , It brings back memory of childhood and happy days. Pt. Hari Prasad Ji is known for such magical compositions but this one is special . Technically it is called Thumri Mishra Khamaj but I recoginze it as consciousness. Here is the link-

Is it The dark side of music..
It all started when read about this Raaga called Malkauns. It is known to be a Raaga which attracts evil spirits and is very powerful. Since I never heard these things related to music and I love to explore hindustani classical music, I was damn excited about this. Let me tell you a bit about Raag Malkauns before proceeding.
Raaga Malkauns is a mid-night Raaga which has 5 jumping notes and sounds very mystical. technically -
Komal Gandhar(Ga), Komal Dhaivat(dha), Komal Nishad.(Ni) Rishabh(Ri) and Pancham(pa) are not used. Madhyam(Ma) is Shuddha.
More info at:- http://bit.ly/aOGUov
by the way it's not a evil Raaga, it just attracts evil spirits as they say.
The day one of my experience was when I was alone in my duplex flat and my roommate had gone out for his late night group study program with his friends(supposedly). I watched a movie till 1.30 am and then after that I felt why not give this Raaga a shot. I tuned my Swaramandal and setup my Tanpura, heard a sound clip from my music class. All set i started to sing this composition called " Mukh mod mod". Everything was normal i felt great. My house has a very deep acoustic effect and I could literally feel music flowing around me around 3 am. Around 4 am. after a brilliant practice session I decided to go to sleep. I went to my bedroom upstairs, feeling happy and exhausted I dozed off within 2-3 mins. Suddenly a fairly pleasant sound woke me up, the sound of malkauns being played on swaramandal. I thought my brain is playing tricks on me (happens with such an addictive Raaga) , so I ignored it and slept peacefully. When I woke up I discovered my instruments were in the same place I had kept last night, Everything seemed normal until I discovered that I had kept my voice recorder on(I usually record my sessions) and it had recorded the whole night. I put on my headphones and started to listen to that clip to find out whether that sound which I heard was real or maybe m crazy. OMG!!..I discovered that it recorded the similar thing which I heard. I couldn't believe my ears. I called up a friend of mine to make him listen to it and got it verified. spooky!!!
Well I can't really call this the dark side of music but It was life-lasting experience to say the least,. I leave you with this malkauns performance ..Enjoy!!---

Raag Bhairav- Immortal
Bhairav is known to be a very powerful and complete raaga. Why is it called powerful? what do we mean by power here and what is completeness. Well, power here is not symbolic to one we come across in rock and metal music( literally powerful) but the power to express emotions more accurately. It is complete not only because of 7 notes in ascending and descending order, but because of the liberty to include lot of variations while singing or playing. Devotion is the mood associated with raag Bhirav and compositions like "jago mohan pyare" complement this really well. My guruji has been teaching me this raaga since we started, but still he comes up with completely different ways to sing this every next class. It displays the enormous power of human brain to produce creative and unique data.
Technically it is just komal notes in ascending and descending except ga and ni(gandharva and nishad) which are shudh, but these combinations of notes have a mystical power of producing amazingly accurate emotions. Even for displaying anger or strength in hindustani music you do not need to scream hard or show vocal intensity , permutating and combining notes could very well express this. Well I can not express this in words and neither Iam so religious but I really feel conected to the divine whenever I experience this raaga. Immortal indeed!. Listen to this--> http://bit.ly/a3u3Sj

Beauty of hindustani Ragas
Lately I have started learning hindustani classical music under Pt. Nagraj Rao Havaldar and Omkarnath Havaldar. Im very amazed by the way they define it " The most artistic science and the most scintific art" . The beauty of ragas according to me lies in the creativity associated with it and the mood conveyed by it. A composition in a raga can be sung in so many different forms that even if u practice same raga throughout you life daily, even then you have new things to explore and catch your attention and this makes you closely attched to the raga. Ragas have been defined thousands of year ago and every raga is associated with some part of a day ie there are evening ragas , morning ragas etc. The reason behind this can only be felt if you experience the raga by yourself either by singin or listening to it. You will find that its so natural and instinctive to sing a morning a raga only during morning .

Elgg installation Problem solutions by jugaad technology!
1. If the error is cannot connect to database using given credentials then manually enter your credentials in
elggfolder/engine/settings.php
2. if mod_rewrite is not loaded it gives 404 error for this check out the following:
a. Create a test file for testing mod_rewrite refer this link: http://docs.elgg.org/wiki/Mod_rewrite_test
b. create the .htaccess if not created earlier, this file specifies the pattern match for conversion of url's. Check your RewriteBase configured for your elgg installation directory for eg. If my access to elgg is http://localhost/social, then it should be
RewriteBase /social/
don't forget to leave the trailing /.
c. Now check your apache server for configuration
go to /etc/apache2 and find the apache2.conf file(remember apache2 has config file as apache2.conf rather than httpd.conf)
d. find the AllowOverride clause make it all eg.
AllowOverride all
e. check whether AccessFileName is set to .htaccess
f. Create a symbolic link to modules
first navigate to /etc/apache2/mods-enabled
ln -s /etc/apache2/mods-available/proxy.load proxy.load
and
ln -s /etc/apache2/mods-available/rewrite.load rewrite.load
g. enable the modules by:
mohit@mohit-laptop:~$ sudo a2enmod rewrite
it may ask for restart
mohit@mohit-laptop:~$ sudo service apache2 restart
similarly-->
mohit@mohit-laptop:~$ sudo a2enmod rewrite
h.Above step is also useful for finding whether a module is being loaded properly(being loaded may not mean it will work guys!)
i. find this statement in /etc/apache2/sites-available/default
Options Indexes FollowSymLinks MultiViews
now make the following changes:
AllowOverride all
Order allow,deny
allow from all
j. Go to /etc/apache2/sites-enabled and change the file 000-default
find: Options Indexes FollowSymLinks MultiViews
make the following change in statements below:
AllowOverride all
Order allow,deny
allow from all
k. Make other AllowOverride's in the file as all(jugaad technology!!!)
3. After each step you may need apache restart, do it by
mohit@mohit-laptop:~$ sudo service apache2 restart
4. All the best for the installation!! remember if nothing works after doing all this then it's only your jugaad which can help you..never give up, you may be an inch away from glory!

The beauty of senseless sense...
Echoes of my past haunt me and every another brick in the wall tells the story of my brain damage. It reminds me of the time when i had high hopes and every breath i took was lively like the heart of the sun and suddenly the great gig in the sky changed my life forever. I realised that i was learning to fly so i was bound to be marooned. Now its neither time nor money can bring me back to life again. I lie comfortably numb with my soul.............Hi guys out there this is Mohit just fooling around with words..
